Did you know that we carry many frame mouldings that are made right here in Hawaii and many more that are made on the mainland? We are proud to offer so many "Made in the U.S.A." options for our customers. Stop by and ask about these collections, and in the meantime check out the above video of the Larson-Juhl Custom Frames factory in Wisconsin.
Did you see the most recent edition of "Ads Designed by Keiki" in West Hawaii Today's April 26 issue? This is the second running of this special insert, which asks local businesses to sponsor ads designed and drawn by local elementary school children.
This year, Kona Frame Shop sponsored two ads. Both were drawn by keiki at Kealakehe Elementary. Elliott F. in Mrs. Tolakso's class and Blaysha B. in Mrs. Millers'/Ms. West's class did a fantastic job, and we are proud to support these budding, talented artists! Fun projects like these help build students' analytical and creative skills by asking them to determine how to succinctly represent a business or organization visually.
Great job Elliott and Blaysha, and thank you to the ad team at West Hawaii Today!

This upcoming weekend - February 25 and 26 - is the annual SOKO Studio Tour. For the past several years, the South Kona Artist Collective has put on a self-guided tour to artist studios and homes throughout Keahou, Captain Cook, Honaunau, and Kainaliu. The tour is great opportunity to not only see and purchase unique, local artwork, but also to meet the artists face-to-face and see how and where they create. Artwork presented include paintings, prints, ceramics, photography, jewelry, glass, textiles, and wood.
We attended last year's tour and had a fabulous weekend. Pick up a map and brochure at the shop, and we'll see you on the tour!
For more information, visit: http://sokoartists.com/studio-tour/
Tour dates/hours: Saturday and Sunday, February 25-26, 10 am - 4 pm
Artists represented in this year's tour are:

Well, we're finished with the first week of February, and we here at the shop have completely failed one of 2017 resolutions. "Completely failed" in this instance means "didn't even start!"
We told ourselves that we would keep an up-to-date blog of shop news, framing tips, clearance sales, community and shop events, and other various musings. Even though we might have missed a month, we're going to honor our resolution and start now. Better late than never, right? Stay tuned for future postings here on the website and on our Facebook page. And, as always, please stay in touch! We love to hear from our customers.
